My boys love a good theme... and by good theme I mean, anything that they can add cars, trucks and diggers with. Ha! Almost every activity we do ends up with some type of digger incorporated after the "pretty pictures" have been taken! And that's quite alright! Here are 6 EASY IDEAS that you can try out with your little ones!

Idea #1 Kinetic Sand Sensory Play
We transitioned from Valentine's Day into Transportation theme, hence the hearts. But you could easily replace the hearts with little stones, counter bears, pom poms, buttons, you get the idea!
We used --
💌Kinetic Sand Base
💌 Digger Toys
💌 Target Mini Erasers (last year, sorry!)
💌Heart Table scatter from Hobby Lobby
💌 Heart Eggs from Dollar Tree
Idea #2 Shape Roads
Grab some colored painters tape, and tape out some shapes in different colors. Add colored cars that coordinate and let your little ones have fun while practicing important skills!
This activity—
🚗 builds imagination
🚙 practices prewriting skill of line tracing
🚕 color identifying + sorting
🚓 shape identifying
Idea #3 Fine Motor Stop Light Craft
Have your little tear up some red, yellow and green paper, sort, and glue into circles onto black rectangle paper. Voila, easy peasy stop light craft that can also incorporate some Bible truths from one of our favorite songs! 🎶 Stop; and let me tell you What the Lord has done for me. Stop; and let me tell you What the Lord has done for me. He forgave my sin And He saved my soul, He cleansed my heart And He made me whole. Stop; and let me tell you What the Lord has done for me.🎶
Idea #4 Digger Play Dough Tray
A digger playdough tray is a boy's idea of a good time.
We reused our chocolate playdough from Valentines Day. Recipe from Vanessa @prekpages and added the loose parts
🚧 Yellow magnetic letters for stamping
🚧 Yellow pouch tops for mark making and building
🚧 Popsicle Sticks for building
🚧 Playdough tools (these are @melissaanddougtoys)
🚧 And of course little diggers
Idea #5 Car Paint + Wash
Car name tracing? Yes, please! This was right up 2 boy’s lane! They did this until these cars were caked in paint (be sure to use washable paints!) 😂 Also, I just extend the activity by letting them have a car wash at the end!
BENEFITS IN DISGUISE!
🚗 Name Recognition
🚙 Letter Identification of the letters in their name
🚗 Fine Motor strength building to follow the lines of the letters
🚙 Fine motor strength to use the toothbrush to clean up afterwards (these are ones I use to clean, lol)

Sometimes activities are play based with hidden academic practice... and sometimes you just need a good 45 minutes to get something done, cue the
DRIVE AND DROP BOX 👍🏼 🚙🚗🚕
Grab a box, cut a small square into it and draw roads that end up falling into the hole. You’d be surprised how long they will drive and drop cars into this! 😂
