Rainbow theme is probably, easily, most definitely my favorite. Give. Me. All. The. Colors. Below you will find 8 easy to set up ideas that you can do with your preschoolers! Let me know if you give any of them a try over on Instagram @ourblessedhomeschool!

Idea #1 Rainbow Color Play Dough Tray

Simple set up with store bought play dough

🌈 Colored buttons

🌈 Colored Pipe Cleaners

🌈 Colored Magnetic Letters

🌈 Colored Popsicle Sticks

Idea #2 Rainbow Pattern Stacks

Not only are they learning patterning skills, but developing fine motor muscles pulling and pushing the cubes together, problem solving, and at the end you can prompt your littles with questions like——

🌈 How many towers are there in all?

🌈 How many red cubes are there altogether?

🌈 If I have 5 and you have 2 how many do we have together?

🌈 If you have 10 and we take away 4 how many do you have left?

Idea #3 Rainbow Letter Reveal

This is a smple crayon resist using rainbow watercolor paints. I wrote the letters with white crayon onto a piece of computer paper, set up the rainbow for ROYGBIV reference and let him get to work painting and discovering the hidden letters! 🌈

Idea #4 Rainbow Tape Rescue

If you only have one puzzle in your house, it needs to be this one! My boys LOVE the different set ups we do with it! The Rainbow Tape Rescue is by far their favorite!

Perfect activity for BOTH toddlers and preschoolers

🌈 build fine motor strength

🌈 build exposure to letters and letter names

🌈 to practice problem solving

🌈 to learn color names

Idea #5 Rainbow Cardboard Painting

I cut out rainbow shapes, and let the boys decorate them however they wanted using tempera paint sticks.

Idea #6 Rainbow Letter Sort

Is your little struggling with Bb and Dd? Bb and Dd Rainbow Sticker Sort to the rescue! Or, any two letters for that matter! Just draw this simple rainbow out onto butcher paper, or into a notebook and label some dot stickers. Easy!

Idea #7 Rainbow Letter Trace + Match

We used butcher paper, but any will do! Tape it to the wall, or not!

Just add upper and lowercase letters in correlating colors for easy rainbow arch matching. For younger ones, connect them with pencil, perfect for prewriting practice. For older kiddos, let them figure it out and see where they take it! 🌈

Idea #8 Rainbow Scavenger Hunt

This one is basically a staple in our house! Basically no prep! All you need is colored paper and kiddos who need to burn a little energy!

Set out the papers and then have your kiddos go on the hunt for colored items in your house!

For younger toddlers they may need help hunting and sorting but, Mr. 2 LOVES this “game.” And asks for it often!

For older kids, challenge them to find a certain amount of items at one time!

Easy peasy! 👍🏼

I hope these ideas are helpful to you and your littles!
